About Rosendale Primary School and Children’s Centre

Rosendale Primary School is an Outstanding three form entry community school in Lambeth, with its own Children’s Centre for babies and toddlers from 6 months, and a Nursery for children from 3. We are known as a centre for excellence.

In March 2016 our Headteacher Kate Atkins was awarded the Leadership Impact Award at the NAACE Impact Awards (Education and Technology Association).

In December 2015 we were delighted to be awarded 2015 Confucius Classroom of the Year by the Institute of Education (IOE) Confucius Institute for Schools.   We were presented with the award at the 10th Confucius Institute Conference in Shanghai.

In 2014 we were awarded a Gold Standard Performance Development Quality Mark from the Institute of Education (IOE) in recognition of the work we do to develop our staff.  We are also a Specialist Partner for Research and Development with the Institute of Education.

History of The School

The site for the school was bought in 1894.  A temporary iron structure was put up in 1897 and the school opened in 1898 as a combined Junior and Infant School.  The present main junior school building was completed in 1900, and the infants building opened in 1908. We are responsible for the education of approximately 690 children from nursery age until they are ready to transfer to secondary school.  In 2008, Rosendale Children’s Centre opened in its own building situated within the school’s grounds.

School Organisation

The school has a purpose-built Nursery which offers full and half day places for children aged 3 and over. The main school has three forms of entry with up to 90 children in each year group and is arranged into different phases.
